We WiFi-ed Dalkey….
FreeFi was in a position to connect and manage various networks for businesses and visitors to the Dalkey Book Festival this year. We provided a shared and ‘managed’ open wifi ‘mesh’ throughout Castle street (the main street) of Dalkey. This meant Free and open wifi access through Freefi up to 80% coverage of the main street.
The Dalkey Book Festival 2011 was an amazing success again this year for the village..
David McWilliams and his wife, Sian, a bunch of volunteers and a fantastic local business group were unified. The village of Dalkey was vibrant, full of life and atmosphere.
Right in the centre of the the town, BBQ food and music filled the Tramyard. Home to The farmers Market and multiple other businesses, the Tramyard also has Open and free wifi too.

Overall, it must be said, Dalkey, like every small village and town, needs to pull together in business and community if they are to survive the banking and liquidity crisis.
FreeFi appreciate the support and hope to continue to ‘connect’ the visitors and locals to the web.
Another new business opened just in time for the Dalkey book festival. Another location to open and share their wifi. The corner note cafe has an eclectic clientèle already.

Other establishments along the main street opened their wifi too with a special mention for Crowley’s Chemist. We were delighted to work with the Dalkey Book Festival this year, we can confirm hundreds of users per day of the open and free wifi Dalkey is providing. What a great way to allow your visitors to share their experiences through open wifi and social media.
